Description

As a part of its work to reduce hunger and food insecurity, FareStart is piloting a mobile community market to provide equitable access to fresh, healthy food to communities who are underserved, including those that have been impacted by systemic racism in our food systems. The mobile community market leverages high-quality food that is gathered, gleaned, donated, and purchased from our food partners including local farmers, grocery and retail stores and donors. Kits made by volunteer groups will provide additional resources to community market customers.

This opportunity may be done individually or collaboratively. Volunteers will purchase or fundraise for supplies, assemble them into kits, and mail/drop off kits at FareStart. There are three kit types that you can opt to assemble:

Ordering Supplies: Please refer to the links above for FareStart’s ideal product to order. All products must be full size and packages must remain sealed. You are welcome to order other brands or from other stores if preferred. Ideal bags would be cloth/reusable, but you can use Ziploc if preferred. If you have questions about ordering, please contact volunteer@farestart.org.

Note: Volunteers interested in this need must contact FareStart to confirm the type of kit you will be assembling, the amount of kits and the time/date of your assembly gathering. FareStart will track both the donation value and volunteer hours.
