At CAIRO, their mission is to advocate for and act to increase equity and social justice through programs, services, community organizing and collaborative leadership that create equitable opportunities for African refugees and immigrant children, youth and families to thrive

CAIRO PDX was founded in 2014 by the African immigrant and refugee community in Portland to address the growing education inequities within Portland Public Schools. Since then, the organization has grown to prioritize equitable education, community health, and economic development for African students and families in Portland and beyond.
