Who We Are

We are the largest hunger-relief organization in the Rocky Mountain region. That makes us uniquely suited to answer the enormous challenge of hunger, which affects 1 out of 8 people in our communities. Since 1978, we’ve put the power of community to work for our neighbors in need. Through partnerships. Through programs. Through people. Through you.

We distribute more than 1.5 million meals every week on average. But for those in need, we provide more than just food. We give hope and open a future. Because when you can’t provide for your family today, it’s hard to even think about tomorrow.

Answering the challenge of hunger means meeting today’s needs while developing strategies to address longer-term difficulties. It means striking a balance between large-scale capabilities and local connections. Ultimately, we provide food to people in need, and the impact of that — whether you look at regional statistics or into the eyes of a thankful family — is measurable.

What We Do

We serve as a food-sourcing and distribution center for 30 counties in Colorado, including the entire Western Slope, as well as all of Wyoming. As the largest hunger-relief organization in the region, we are proud to be able to make our donations go further through partnerships and programs with expansive reach, high-level coordination, and local impact.

How we directly serve communities:

Mobile Pantries: Need isn’t always conveniently located, which is why we deploy 70+ Mobile Pantries throughout Colorado and Wyoming. Each year, our Mobile Pantries provide millions of pounds of food to under-supported areas. Learn more about Mobile Pantries.

Food for Kids: We provide fresh, nutritious foods to children through our afterschool and summer programs, Totes of Hope™, and other efforts aimed at giving growing minds and bodies what they need to succeed. Learn more about Food for Kids.

Government Programs: From providing monthly EverGreen Boxes™ of food to low-income, older adults, to supplying emergency food support in times of greater need, Food Bank of the Rockies coordinates with the national government to deliver the most help where it’s needed, when it’s needed. Learn more about EverGreen Boxes™.

Culturally Responsive Food Initiative: The Culturally Responsive Food Initiative (CRFI) aims to overcome barriers of access experienced by clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Through the program, Food Bank of the Rockies strives to equitably source and distribute as many culturally responsive foods to as many people as possible. Learn more about the Culturally Responsive Food Initiative.
