Who We Are
Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity partners with people, communities, and organizations to foster economic empowerment and sustainable community revitalization by providing affordable homeownership opportunities for those in need. Gloucester Habitat provides services to all people regardless of background, ethnicity, race or religion.
Habitat believes that everyone should have a safe, affordable place to call home. To realize that vision, it partners with individuals and families from application, through construction, to when it hands over the keys to the home. By working with Habitat from beginning to end, families prepare for the various responsibilities of homeownership, including personal finances, mortgages, maintenance and upkeep of homes, and more. Habitat’s path to homeownership is an rigorous process, requiring hard work, time and dedication -- but this ensures the long-term success of Habitat homeowners.

What We Do
Prospective Habitat homeowners must demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing. Once selected, they must partner with Habitat throughout the process, which includes performing “sweat equity,” or helping to build their own home or the homes of others in our homeownership program. Sweat equity can also include taking homeownership classes or performing volunteer work in a Habitat ReStore.
Homeowners must also be able and willing to pay an affordable mortgage. Mortgage payments are cycled back into the community to help build additional Habitat houses.
