Who We Are

The American Red Cross saves lives. When disaster strikes, we respond with food, shelter and hope. When barriers of distance, language or warfare separate loved ones, we open lines of communication. When families, co-workers and communities must prepare for emergencies, we help them take action.

In New Jersey, we bring together more than 4,500 people to care for their neighbors, train more than 114,500 people in life-saving skills and respond to a disaster nearly every day. In emergencies large and small - a home fire, a hurricane, a flood - right here in our community or on distant shores, people can count on the Red Cross.

What We Do

In 2019, the New Jersey Region:
  • Responded to 820 local disasters, helping 2,150 families displaced by home fires.
  • Collected more than 94,500 units of blood through blood drives and our donation centers.
  • Trained 114,500 individuals with life-saving skills in preparedness, CPR, AED use, first aid and aquatics.
  • Provided 7,230 military family case services with emergency messages, helping families find assistance and/or get counseling and referrals.

These Red Cross services are made possible by the generous contribution of time from 4,500 volunteers who help make a difference in our communities!
